Gaining
Traction

March 2022

THIS MONTH'S THEME: BUSINESS TRACTION

As you grow your business, you’re going to be asked by customers, investors, potential hires, community leaders, and journalists the same question: What’s your traction?

If you want your business to succeed, you better have your answer down cold. But unfortunately, this is where many early-stage entrepreneurs get hung up because they equate traction with revenue.

Don’t sell yourself short. Even if your business is pre-revenue, you have a lot to be proud of and can speak to other metrics, accomplishments, and partnerships that demonstrate significant traction.

This question will continue to pop up no matter what your business sells—products, services, information, expertise, or experiences. Of course, the way it is asked will be different depending on whether it’s an angel investor, a loan officer, or the city council member. So to gain more traction, you have to be able to present your business’s current progress and future potential in a clear and compelling manner.

So in March, we’ll offer techniques for highlighting a business’s early-stage achievements and help you gain even more traction!

Our free events and curated resources will help you:

  • Hear from other founders and small business owners on how they showcase their hard work, wins, and future potential
  • Gain best practices for prioritizing traction metrics and using them to validate different aspects of a startup
  • Understand how to adapt your message around traction based on who you are speaking with and the goal(s) you are trying to achieve
  • Draft a traction deck or one-pager that you can refine and use to demonstrate your startup’s traction
