Ascender Best Coworking Experience

If you’re not used to it, adjusting to an open, collaborative office space can feel a bit overwhelming. Maybe you’re an individual transitioning from a home office, or maybe a small company or part of company looking for a new, more flexible space. Whatever the reason, gelling well in your new Ascender coworking environment is important for your own productivity as well as those around you.

A true Pittsburgh coworking space, Ascender believes in three key components for a successful experience: coworking, programming, and collaboration. Here are just a few tips to help you maximize your shared space experience.

How to Win at Ascender Coworking

Are you comfortable in an open office with all the background sounds and movement? Or maybe you need a little more separation in order to work at your best. An awareness of how you and/or your team function is the first step to getting the most out of a coworking experience.

But what is a coworking space? Ascender recognizes that different people work differently. While you have the option to claim a desk in our open floor plan, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of your coworkers, there’s also the ability to stake out a quieter corner of the office in the one of Ascender’s three conference rooms.

Need a change of scenery? Shoot over to a lounge area or chill out in the kitchen. Maybe you feel like going off campus all together! With plenty of coffee shops, restaurants, and bars to choose from in the East End area, including East Liberty, Bakery Square, and Shadyside, the neighborhood can satisfy your needs. The bottom line is, know how you work best and do it!

Attend Programs and Events

Unless you’re selling mousetraps, your industry is constantly evolving. We realize there’s always more to learn, no matter where you and your company are along the journey. A big part of the Ascender experience is top-notch programs and events to help you and your company grow.

Our Starters Series (second Tuesday of every month) helps you learn the ins and outs of starting a new business, from ideation to execution. Maybe you’re a bit past the startup phase and just want to stay up-to-date. Make sure to check out the Builders Series (last Thursday of every month) where you’ll discover new ways to help your established business continue to grow and maximize potential.

In addition to our Starters/Builders Series, Ascender offers a variety of frequent events including roundtable discussions focusing on monthly themes addressing issues across a wide array of industries. In the past six months, Ascender programming has welcomed more than 2,000 attendees to the space. Visit our events page to learn more.

Collaborate and Network

A huge benefit to working at Ascender is the constant opportunity for networking and collaboration. But how does this translate in context? Certainly, these terms have become rather vague and mean a number of things to different people.

For Ascender, this means getting to know the people working around you. Who knows what the person three desks down might be working on. Maybe there’s a mutual opportunity to help each other’s business grow. We encourage our coworking members to get to know and learn from one another. You’ll be surrounded by a diverse range of folks, from the best new startups to our hand-picked incubation businesses to seasoned industry pros who bring a wealth of knowledge into the our space every single day.
