Ben Rubino is the Program Coordinator at Ascender. In this role, Ben assists in developing, planning, and executing Ascender’s entrepreneurial programs designed to help individuals start and build their businesses. He also works to communicate Ascender’s mission and core values through different social media platforms and outreach efforts.
Born and raised in the Greater Pittsburgh Region, Ben is committed to building a community where everyone can thrive. He takes pride in his work at Ascender because it contributes to strengthening the economic opportunities for a new and diverse generation of innovative business and nonprofit leaders.
After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh, Ben moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for a year of service and worked at Repairers of the Breach, a daytime shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness. Following his volunteer year, Ben held multiple positions in the nonprofit and private sectors and earned a Master of Arts in Public Service from Marquette University through the Trinity Fellows Program. Before starting at Ascender, he most recently worked to improve food access in the region as a coordinator for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
Ben lives in Greenfield with his girlfriend and loves to walk his dog in Schenley Park.
